Today I ask, you put that on Facebook? What the hell were you thinking? If you’re a roofing company, you’ve obviously got a Facebook page for your business and if you don’t, you should consider creating one. Here’s what I want to tell you. We see a lot of our clients initially coming to us with their Facebook page and they’re using it to try to advertise to the people that have liked their page. Obviously when you have a business Facebook page, you’re trying to build fans of your business, but one thing you want to be really careful of is not bombarding those fans that you’ve got to like your business with ads, trying to pitch them something, trying to sell them something. Listen, that’s not the place nor the time to do it. You need to look at Facebook ads or a different avenue to do that with. These are people who’ve liked your business. They’re supporting you. They may not even be in the market for what you’re offering, but they’re a fan of your page, and if they liked the things they see, they’re likely to share. People don’t like to share ads, not that it can’t happen, but it’s not the likely thing. You’re a roofer. You got to get content out there, things out there that it’s going to attract more audience to your page, and for those people who may be in the market for this. To find it, you need your fans to share some of these things. So think about everyday things that you can do to achieve this. So I’m gonna. Give you a quick one here. Most of you guys got a pair of Cougar Paws. If you don’t somebody in your organization does.
So here’s a simple idea. Go up on a roof, film yourself, talk to your audience about how here’s one of the things we do to keep ourselves safe up on a roof. We get these inspections all the time, we’re up and down. We put on these special shoes, show them first, talk about them a little bit, what they do, why they work, and what the purpose is, and then go demonstrate them out on a roof that’s going to be something different than the average everyday shoe. They wouldn’t know about a special roofing shoe that gives you more traction while you’re on a roof. Little things like that have the ability for people to go, wow, that’s super cool. I’m going to send that video out, share with my friends or whatever it may be. This way they are more likely to do that than an ad. Stop putting ads on your actual fan page and put stuff out there that people care about. Think about it. Take it. Use it. Good luck out there.
